Watch Out for Winter Conditions on the Road
While the first day of winter isn’t officially until December 21, the season is already upon us. Colder weather has arrived, and the looming threat of snowfall and freezing rain hangs which leads to icy roads over the Washington DC area.
Car accidents, motorcycle accidents, and other motor vehicle accidents (MVA) are more likely to occur with icy roads and hazardous weather conditions. The question is: do you know what to do if you’re ever in that situation?
At the Scene
- Make sure everyone at the scene is safe, and that no one needs emergency medical services. If immediate care is required, call 911.
- It is important to document the proper information at the scene of the MVA. Call the police, exchange insurance information, and take pictures of the impact and damages.
Call a Chiropractor!
After those first two steps have been taken care of, it’s time to seek medical attention. While you may not be in immediate pain, that doesn’t mean you’re out of the woods. Many times, pain and injuries from a collision take days to show up. Don’t wait to get checked out, give us a call right away! We do offer same-day treatment at all our clinics.
Even the tiniest of fender benders can produce whiplash. A whiplash injury is caused by a jerking movement to the head or neck. You may not feel it immediately, but just remember whiplash is likely even with a small collision. The longer you wait to seek treatment, the longer the injury will have to worsen, and the more pain will increase.
